Adonis & Sandra Malazo

Country or Ministry:
Philippines
Status:
On Furlough

The Malazos came on board with CanAmera in December of 2012. Brother Malazo was born in the Philippines, and moved to Canada along with his family in 1994. He trusted Christ as his Saviour the following year. Sandra trusted Christ as her Saviour as a young girl. Both attended FaithWay Baptist College of Canada in Ajax, Ontario, where they met. They were married in Sandra’s home church in Michigan in 2001. Shortly after their wedding, Brother Malazo and Sandra took a survey trip to the Philippines where they worked with another missionary family for three weeks. During their stay in the Philippines, they gained much experience and their burden for the people there increased. While they anticipated going to the Philippines soon after college, God had other plans. For the next ten years, the Lord gave the Malazos the opportunity to serve Him by assisting three churches in the Vancouver area. In the summer of 2009, using Romans 15:20–21, God confirmed to them His call to reach the Igorot people of Sagada, Mountain Province, Philippines.

In January of 2015 the Malazos moved to Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines, where they planted New Hope Baptist Church—now called Harvesters Baptist Church.  In order to get to know the Igorot culture, Brother Malazo and Sandra worked with a church in Baguio City during 2016 in preparation to begin a church in Sagada the following year. The family moved to Sagada in December of 2016, and they officially started Central Sagada Baptist Church in February 2017.

The Malazos are currently on furlough and are eagerly looking forward to returning to the Philippines in June of this year (2024).
