Niles & Pam Loewen are missionaries to the Yucatan Peninsula. They moved to the city of Tekax in December of 2013. The Loewens started a church in that city in February 2014. By the beginning of 2016, they were able to buy some property and build a Yucatecan palapa (an open-sided building with a thatched roof) for a church building.
Due to kidney failure in July 2016, Brother Lowen returned to Canada for medical help.
By God's sovereign arrangement, a seasoned national become the pastor of this church. Since then the church has continued to flourish. They have also been faithfully ministering in the surrounding towns with soul-winning and holding services. This year (2024) the church is planning to have their first graduation of Bible Institute. The church also hopes to send a pastor to a neighbouring city, Peto, in which they have begun a new church.
Since 2017, God has allowed the Loewens to visit and continue supporting this work. Currently, they are in a building project for a bigger auditorium. Brother Niles and Pam continue to support the work and work with the church as God allows.
