Christopher and Rebekah Lowe officially started deputation in January 2014 and finished in 2016 with a heart to establish Gateway Bible Baptist Church in Thompson, MB. This church is a plant out of Pembina Valley Baptist Church which is also the Lowe’s sending church. In June 2016, they moved to Winkler, MB, to work alongside Pembina Valley Baptist Church for one year before transitioning to live in Thompson. In June 2017, they moved to Thompson and have been ministering there since that time. The Lowes' ministry is primarily to the community in Thompson, however, Chris has also conducted funerals and ministered to several outlying communities, some reachable only by plane. Thompson is a community known for years as "The Violent Crime Capital of Canada." The Lowe family gets the Gospel to the public through weekly hospital chapel services and homeless shelter services. Gateway Bible Baptist Church is faithful to give out the Gospel both personally, corporately, and through public events like parades, Winterfest (a winter festival for the encouragement of the residents), and weekly visitation. In addition, the church is active in its discipleship of young believers through a weekly small group Bible study held at the church and its four regular weekly services. God is building and establishing His church in Thompson one soul at a time.
